Old Forester has had multiple claim to fame moments over its 150 years of existence. One of those being the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed bottles. However, one bottle within their lineup has a silhouette or shape that is unmistaken but is rarely spotted on the bar shelve at your local watering hole. Nonetheless, here’s a chance to add this limited edition bourbon release to your private collection. Its annual release is coming soon and we’re going to tell you everything you need to know on how to buy Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024!
The Old Forester brand has also been on the market continuously longer than any other bourbon brand, so they deserve a celebration. The annual release of Birthday Bourbon allows us all to join in on that milestone which celebrates their founder’s birthday. However, just like any amazing party, it’s only inevitable that everyone will not be able to get in. Let’s talk about what’s at stake if you’re one of the lucky few though.
The 2024 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon is non-chill filtered and bottled at 107 proof. This OFBB release features a batch of 209 hand selected barrels that were aged for 12 years. Two separate batches were aged in two different warehouses at Brown-Forman Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. Warehouse L utilizes a heat cycling technique, that is meant to improve consistency during maturation. Warehouse G is one of two warehouse on the campus that isn’t heat cycled. Therefore, the bourbon in this rickhouse provides a different flavor profile after 12 years of aging in a different environment.
No two releases are exactly the same and that couldn’t be more evident from the 2023 release to the 2024 release. Just in the proofing alone, there is 11 points difference. Last year’s release was a 96 proof offering compared to the 107-proofing for 2024.
The unique blend of the Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024 edition produces an aroma on the nose of a bright fruit medley with notes of apple and apricot. Those notes on the flavor wheel are accented by rich spice cake and buttercream icing that are also complemented with sweet tobacco and warm oak. Following on the palate are notes of juicy fruits on the front with toasted oak and the taste of warm cinnamon spice. The finish provides hints of caramel apple with a long and complex mix of ground cinnamon, cacao, and sweet tobacco.

Where To Buy Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2024
Your best chance to score a bottle of 2024 Birthday Bourbon will be through the online sweepstakes that was just announced. Although we haven’t officially ran the math on your odds to find a bottle in the wild, we’re guessing you have a better chance here with minimum effort. That’s if you live in Kentucky, or at least nearby, since winners will have to pick up their bottles at the Old Forester Distillery in downtown Louisville. It should be noted that attempting to send your buddy, wife, or next to kin to retrieve your bottle won’t fly either. A formal ID and matching credit card must be presented in-person at the Old Forester Gift Shop.
The 2024 Birthday Bourbon release date is September 2, 2024 and supplies will sell out! This is a first come first serve situation, therefore no reservations needed and no official lottery to sign up for. The gates to enter each location will open at 7am and each respective Visitor Center will open their doors at 9am through 4pm EDT. No overnight camping is permitted, but there will definitely be a line. This limited edition release is limited to 1 bottle per customer.
The OF Birthday Bourbon 2024 release will consist of approximately 30,000 750ml bottles in the United States with a retail price of $200. That is about double the allocation that last year’s release produced. The OF BB release will also roll out to select retailers across the country within the Brown-Forman distribution network, but good luck with that route. Nonetheless, it should be noted that all 30,000 bottles will not be available for the online sweepstakes, however no definitive number is available regarding allocation.
